COMPUTERS & INTERNET

ACCESS

Aldrich Free Public Library is pleased to offer access to public computers during library hours. Children under the age of seven must be supervised at all times by a parent, legal guardian and/or responsible caregiver.

TIME LIMITS

The library strives to ensure equal access for all users; therefore, time limitations do apply. There is no set time limit schedule, unless there are patrons waiting to use the computers/internet. Once someone is waiting, the time is then limited to a half an hour (30 minutes).

TERMS OF USE

We ask that you please:

  • Respect all library users by adhering to the Patron Conduct Policy and keeping conversation appropriate and low volume.
  • Use headphones when listening to audio. The library does not have headphones for public use.
  • Follow time limits and promptly leave your computer when asked to by library staff.
  • Save your work to portable storage only. All files saved to the computers are erased nightly.
  • Refrain from tampering with hardware, software, and/or settings. Personal software is prohibited.
  • Never use the library’s internet connection (hardwired or wifi) to access illegal, obscene, rude and/or offensive content.

PATRONS FOUND TO BE VIOLATING THESE TERMS RISK LOSS OF INTERNET AND/OR LIBRARY PRIVILEGES.

FILTERING/SECURITY/PRIVACY

Users access public computers and the internet at their own risk. There is no content filter in use anywhere in the library. Users are responsible for their own appropriate and secure browsing and sharing on the internet. Caregivers of children and teens are responsible for their minors’ online activity. All library computers are equipped with malware protection and disk security software. Information stored on each computer is erased nightly. Users are responsible for safeguarding their personal information. The library’s public Wi-Fi network is unsecured. Users of personal devices on this network are responsible for their own security.

PRINTING, COPYING & FAXING SERVICES

Prints and copies cost $0.15 per black and white ink page(s) on letter or legal sized paper

Prints and copies cost $1.00 per color ink page(s) on letter or legal sized paper

Faxes can be sent for $1.00 per page on letter or legal sized paper

You may receive faxes at the library for a cost of $0.15 per page. Please call the library beforehand if you are expecting a fax. The fax number is (860) 564-8491.

Users are responsible for the cost of all documents printed, including those that print incorrectly due to user error. It is recommended that users “Print Preview” before sending documents to the printer. Users may not use personal paper in library printers.
