1.How do I set up my library card online? |
|
a. Go to http://aldr-verso.auto-graphics.com/ or to the Aldrich home page and click on "Our Catalog." This can be saved as a "Favorite" in the toolbar.

b. Click on Account Login.
|
|
c. For User Name, type in your 14-digit barcode number found on the back of your library card.
|
|
d. For Password, use userpass.
The program will ask you to create your own password, please do so. We suggest you write it down. We will not be able to retrieve your password.

e. If you forget your password, please call the library to reset the program and to create a new password.

2. What are the advantages of using the online Verso catalog? |
| |
The advantages of Verso are the following.
|
| |
a. See all your "checked out" items and "due dates."
|
| |
b. Search our catalog from home to see if an item is available, or checked out.
|
| |
c. Reserve an item.

4. How do I get a library card? |
| |
a. You will need a photo ID with a Plainfield address, this includes Plainfield, Wauregan, Moosup or Central Village. If you do not have a Plainfield address on your photo ID, please bring the following:
- a photo ID with your name
- a piece of mail with your name and Plainfield address.

b. Children and young adults from birth to 17 years need a parent or guardian signature to have their own library card.
|
| |
c. Your card is good for 3 years and can be renewed at the end of this time. Do not throw the card away.

5. I lost my library card, what do I do? |
| |
You will need to come into the library and get a new one. There is currently no replacement fee for a lost card.

6. What is iConn? |
| |
a. iConn is a huge database. You will need your library barcode number to get into this database.
You can search at one time:
- 25 million full-text popular & scholarly articles
- newspapers
- business information on 450,000 companies
- health information
- over 400 Connecticut library catalogs ("reQuest")
- and more

b. 10 reasons to go to www.iconn.org.
iConn is access to magazines, journals, and newspapers for extensive information on health questions, genealogy, resources for schoolwork, business information, and science. Libraries and citizens in Connecticut have access to magazines online from home or in the library. It would be prohibitive costwise if libraries subscribed individually to this database.

7. Can I get a fax at the library? Can I send a fax? |

Use of the fax is $1.00 per page to send out a fax and 10 cents per page to receive a fax. Please call the library if you are expecting a fax.The fax number is 860-564-8491.

8. What days are you closed? |
| |
We are closed on Thursdays and Sundays. Call the library to determine if we are closed for inclement weather. We are closed on the following holidays:
New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Presidents' Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans' Day
Thanksgiving and the day before Thanksgiving

9. What does it cost to use the copier? or to make computer copies? |

Black and white computer copies are 10 cents each. Color copies are 25 cents each. Copier copies are 10 cents each.

10. How do I request a book from another library? |
| |
a. To request a book from another library, first be sure it is not in the Aldrich Library.
b.To do this, go to our state catalog by clicking on it in the menu to the left of our web pages. Enter your patron barcode. Check the Aldrich Catalog and the State Request Catalog at the bottom of the screen. Enter the item you are searching for at the top of the screen.
c. When the item is found, click on "request this item." If it is in the Aldrich Library, you will be able to see it there. Please come in to pick it up.. If not, we will need your name (last name first), and phone number; please enter your password.
d. We will call you when the item comes into the library for you to pick up.

11. What are the fines and lending periods? How many items can I take out? |
| |
a. Videos or DVDs go out for 2 days. Fines are $2 per day.
b. Books go out for 3 weeks. Fines are 5 cents per day.
c. Audio books on cassette, MP3 or CD go out for 3 weeks. Fines are 10 cents per day.
d. Magazines go out for 3 weeks. Fines are 5 cents per day.
e. Puppets go out for 7 days. Fines are 5 cents per day.
f. You may take out as many books as you want. Only 3 DVDs or videos per library card at one time. You must be 18 or older to check out a DVD or a video.

13. What passes do you have to museums and parks? |
| |
We have discounted passes to Mystic Aquarium and Roger Williams Zoo. We have free passes to the Wadsworth Atheneum. These go out for 3 days with a $2.00 per day fine for each day overdue.
